Spring 2023

For our competition team, spring is the championship season of rowing.  Building off of the gains made during winter season, spring training and races culminate in the USRowing Regional Regatta in Oklahoma City…and for those who qualify, the Junior National Championship beyond that!

For newcomers, practice is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30-5:30pm starting Monday 13 February.  You’re welcome to tag along for Spring Break Training Camp if you’re up for it, plus an optional first taste of racing in Wichita on 15 April.  The season concludes 8 May at which point we’ll have a week’s break before regrouping for summer rowing!

The first few weeks of the season we usually teach the sport indoors at our partner gym, the Combative Sport Center, a basement property located at 116 S 4th St, downtown Manhattan.

Additionally, to counteract the unpredictable Kansas conditions, we also take the team on an optional spring break trip to Oklahoma City, (Sat 11 March to Thur 17 March).  This training camp gives us some early water time while the weather back home is less favorable for rowing.  Much of the extra cost of this trip can be fundraised at our annual Row For Humanity event.

Whether you can come on the spring break trip or not, athletes of all levels are welcome to join us for the season!  Learn more about our two different practice schedules on our Participation Levels page, or sign up for the season here!
